Westwood Schools holds MAD-shark tank!

May 15, 2015 by Crescerance

This week, our team ventured to Camilla, Georgia, the home base of teaching superstar Vicki Davis and the Westwood Schools, to participate and film a “Shark Tank” event held by the school. The presenters in the Shark Tank were 9th and 10th graders from Vicki’s classes who teamed up and developed their own mobile apps using MAD-learn, websites, and videos. The teams then pitched their app to a panel of judges, one of whom was our CEO Alefiya Bhatia, and the judges determined, after much debate, which of the apps would be funded by the school to be published on global app stores.

In the end, the judges decided on two winners: iCare and Drone Zone. iCare is an application that focuses on encouraging random acts of kindness in everyday life. Drone Zone focuses on the logistics and monitoring of a variety of drones used in agriculture and science.

Currently, Vicki Davis and the Crescerance team are working on getting the apps completely finished and published on app stores. Make sure to check out these stellar apps and support these students’ creativity!

If you are interested in conducting a MAD-shark tank at your school, let us know and we would be happy to help!
